CHARLESTON, SC (December 20, 2023) – A second quarter collapse for the Lady Bulldogs ended in an 64-84 non-conference road loss for South Carolina State Tuesday (Dec. 19) to College of Charleston inside TD Arena.

After an impressive first quarter between the two teams, CofC put together an 28-9 run to jump out to an 26-22 advantage to close out the first half. SCSU managed to put together a solid effort in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Cougars 25-20.

Down the stretch College of Charleston proved to be to much handle in several categories to claim the 84-64 win over SC State.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by freshman, Taniyah McGowan with a team-high 21 points and five rebounds, while Jordan Releford chipped in an impressive 15 points, two (2) steals and three (3) rebounds in the loss. Senior forward coming off injury added and solid eight (8) points, whiled Jhaven Meade led the team in rebounding with nine (9) along with seven points.

CofC was led by Jenna Annecchiarico posting the games only double-double with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.  Alexis Andrews was the leader on the day pouring in 32 points and eight (8) rebounds for the Lady Cougars.

South Carolina State drops to 1-12 overall, while College of Charleston improves to 7-3.

 UP NEXT: South Carolina State remains on the for in intrastate battle with Furman on Thursday, December 21st inside Timmons Arena. Tip-off is 7 pm.
