ORANGEBURG, SC (January 8, 2024)—Tyana Walker scored a game-high 18 points along with four (4) rebounds to lead the visiting Bison of Howard to a, 70-46, win over South Carolina State Monday (Jan.8) in Women’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play inside Smiith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

South Carolina State falls to 1-16 overall, 0-2 in the MEAC, while Howard improves to 4-12 overall, 1-1 in the league.

Morgan Beacham led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points, while shooing a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Freshman Taniya McGowan added eight (8) points and five (5) rebounds in the loss.

Jordan Releford returned from injury to chip in nine (9) along with connecting 5-of-5 from the charity stripe for SCSU.

NEXT UP: South Carolina State remain at home in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) doubleheader Saturday (Jan. 20) versus North Carolina Central inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 2 p.m. for the women, followed by a 4 p.m. start for the men.
