ORANGEBURG, SC (October 3, 2023) – The South Carolina State volleyball team snapped losing skid with an 3-2 victory over Allen University Tuesday (Oct. 3rd) inside Dukes Gymnasium.
Head coach Melissa Robinson-Paige captured her first win at the helm. The Lady Bulldogs’ last win dated back to September 28, 2018, versus Savannah State (3-0).
Leading the charge for South Carolina State was junior outside hitter, Kiyah Felder with a game-high 29 kills on the season. Meanwhile, senior opposite hitter Eleisha Thompson swung for 12 kills and added four assists with eight digs to help capture the win.
Freshman setter, Kaia Barnett tallied a record-high 41 assists on the season while also contributing six kills, two aces, and six digs.
On the defensive end, freshman Libero Trinity Stevenson led the defense with 17 digs while Roach Rembert and Andrews held strong on the blocks.
Up Next: The Lady Bulldogs return to conference play on the road for a weekend series against Delaware State in Oct. 6th at 6:00 p.m. and will close out the series at Maryland Eastern Shore in Oct. 8th at 1:00 p.m.
