CHARLOTTE, NC (September 11, 2023) —The South Carolina State volleyball team suffered a few setbacks over the weekend in the Queens Fall Classic held at Curry Arena inside the Levine Center.
The Lady Bulldogs competed hard but dropped tough defeats to Furman (0-3), The Citadel (0-3) and UNC-Asheville (0-3).
For the tournament, SCSU’s Kaia Barnett, freshman, setter (S) from Bowling Green, KY led the team in assists and digs against Furman, registering her second double-double performance. Kiyah Felder, junior outside hitter (OH), tallied 10 kills and seven digs.
For the match against The Citadel, the Lady Bulldogs had a late start getting things going. freshman, defensive specialist/libero (DS/L), Trinity Stevenson captured 11 digs, while senior Eleisha Thompson finished with seven kills.
For the match against UNC-Asheville, SC State tallied five total blocks, and 17 kills. Felder posted an outstanding performance in the Queens Fall Classic over the weekend finishing with 21 kills, two service aces, and 11 digs.
Next Up: The Lady Bulldogs will travel to compete in the Buccaneer Invitational in Charleston, SC held from Sept. 15th-16th.
