ORANGEBURG, SC (October 24, 2023) – South Carolina State’s volleyball team fell short in a pair of home Mid-Eastern Athletics Conference (MEAC) matches to Norfolk State (0-3) and Howard (0-3) inside Dukes Gymnasium.
First Match vs. Norfolk State (13-25, 20-25, 8-25): The Lady Spartans defeated the Lady Bulldogs on Sunday (Oct. 22nd) afternoon. Senior, Eleisha Thompson led the Bulldogs with six kills and two blocks while Miya Benson dished out eight digs. Freshman setter, Kaia Barnett registered 13 assists for the SC State.
Second Match vs. Howard (23-25, 19-25, 9-25): After a hard-fought battle for the first two sets, the Bison were able to capture the 0-3 win over SC State, on Monday (Oct. 23rd) night inside Dukes Gyms. Despite the loss, Hailey Harries recorded a season-high seven blocks and registered one ace with three kills. McKinley Roach swung for six kills while Kaia Barnett dished out 17 assists.
The Lady Bulldogs drop to 1-21 (0-8 MEAC) meanwhile Norfolk State improves to 8-8 (7-2 MEAC) and Howard improves to 11-12 (7-3 MEAC).
Up Next: SC State will travel to Baltimore, MD for a pair of MEAC matches versus Coppin State on Friday (Oct. 27th) night at 6 p.m. and Morgan State on Sunday (Oct. 29) afternoon at 1 p.m.
