Lady Panthers volleyball at the CIAA Volleyball Round Up.

ELIZABETH CITY, NC (October 14, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (8-5, 4-4 CIAA) kicked their offense into gear just when they needed it to claim a five-set win over Virginia Union (8-9, 2-6 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. After a strong start, the Lady Panthers fended off a furious Virginia Union rally to claim the 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 23-25, and 15-11 victory.

The Lady Panthers were able to play some tremendous defense against an aggressive Virginia Union offense in the match. The Lady Panthers totaled 84 digs in the match, including a match-high 32 from senior libero Jasmine Kirkland. Offensively, the Lady Panthers put on a strong showing as well. Claflin junior utility Keymara Coleman led the way when she totaled 10 kills in the match. She also added four total blocks (none solo). Senior utility Kyndall Perry added nine kills of her own.

With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 8-5 overall and 4-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (C(AA) play. The team will return to action, tomorrow, when they close out the CIAA Volleyball Round Up against conference newcomer Bluefield State and Bowie State.
