NASHVILLE, TN (November 12, 2022) -Three Bulldogs scored in double figures with Lesown Hallums leading the way with a team-high 14 points and three steals, however it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs dropped an 61-80 contest to Tennessee State on Saturday (Nov.12th) at the Gentry Center Complex in Nashville.

Cameron Jones and Davion Everett each added 11 in the loss, which dropped SC State to 0-2 on the season. Everett also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds on the day.

Both teams were deadlocked 35-35 during the half.

The Tigers opened the second half with a roar, building an 16 point advantage, off a dunk by Adong Makuoi at the 6:32 mark to give Tennessee State an 66-50 lead.

TSU held on to capture an 80-61 win over the Bulldogs.

Isaiah Turner posted a solid performance for SC State off the bench with nine point and five rebounds.

Adong finished with 11 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, while Zion Griffin and Clay, Jr. each scored 23 each in the win.

South Carolina State remains on the road in the first of the MTE Basketball Classic beginning at Duquesne on Monday (Nov.14th) in Pittsburgh, PA at 7 p.m.., followed by Kentucky on Thursday (Nov. 17th) at 7 p.m. in Lexington, KY and a battle with North Florida on Saturday (Nov.19th) at 5 p.m. in Jacksonville, FL.
