NORFOLK, Va., (October 27, 2023) South Carolina State sophomore guard Jordan Simpson was selected to the Preseason All-MEAC Men’s Third Team, presented by TowneBank, the conference announced.

SIMPSON (So., 6-5, 209) native of Orangeburg, SC played appeared in 30 contests for the Bulldogs averaging 17.8 minutes per game, while tossing in 7.0 points and grabbing 2.5 rebounds last season. Simpson scored a season-high 17 points versus Norfolk State and grabbed eight (8) rebounds on 1/28/23. He was also named to the MEAC All-Rookie Team.

Others earning honors were, Howard sophomore guard Shy Odom was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Preseason Player of the Year and Howard was selected as the preseason favorite to win the MEAC.

Joining Odom on the Preseason All-MEAC First Team are Howard teammates Marcus Dockery and Jelani Williams, Norfolk State’s Christian Ings, and Delaware State’s Martaz Robinson.

All awards were voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The 2024 MEAC Basketball Tournament will be held March 13-16 at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
