Scott Named to 2024 CIAA All-Conference Team

CHARLOTTE, NC – The hard work finally paid off for Claflin junior guard Lauren Scott as she earned a spot on the 2024 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference Team. She was honored as one of the best players in the conference at the 2024 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Tip-Off Awards Ceremony.

The honor came after a season of dynamic play from Scott as she helped the Lady Panthers to a stellar 2023-24 season. For the third season in a row, Scott finished as the Lady Panthers’ leading scorer, averaging a career-high 17.3 points per game. She is currently the second-leading scorer in the CIAA. For the season, she has totaled 555 points. She’s done the bulk of her damage from long range with 74 three-pointers made. For the second season in a row, she finished the regular season as the conference leader in three-pointers made. She set a career-high when she scored 31 points, including hitting seven three-pointers in the game, setting a new career-high after knocking down six in a game last season. She had 10 games of scoring at least 20 points this season. She also added 49 steals and 88 rebounds this season.

While the all-conference selection may be the highest honor of the season for Scott, it is far from the first as she was named the Food Lion CIAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week four times this season.

As the second seed from the CIAA Southern Division, Scott and the Lady Panthers will return to the court Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the 2023-24 CIAA Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
