Scott, Floyd Earn CIAA Women's Basketball Weekly Honors


CHARLOTTE, NC – After a terrific week of play, the honors came in for the Claflin University Lady Panthers as a pair of players brought home honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). On Tuesday, Claflin junior guard Lauren Scott was named the Food Lion CIAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while freshman guard Tyra Floyd was named the Food Lion CIAA Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Scott brought home the honor after a terrific performance last week. She finished the week with 62 total points and 13 total assists. She opened the week with 18 points and five assists against Pain before scoring 21 points with three assists against Bluefield State and she closed the week with 23 points, five rebounds, and five assists at Paine.

Floyd also had a great week of her own. In three games last week, she finished with 19 points and five steals. She scored a career-high eight points against Paine and she added five points against Bluefield State. She finished the week with six points with three steals at Paine.
