ORANGEBURG, SC (October 2, 2021)—Sophomore quarterback Corey Fields, Jr., had another exciting day throwing 20-of-30-0 for a game-high 314-yards and a touchdown to topple Bethune-Cookman’s late rally surge, 42-35, Saturday (Oct. 2nd) inside Oliver C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
The Bulldogs offense racked on 577-yards total offense on the day.
Sophomore Shaquan Davis finished with five catches for 117-yards, while senior Will Vereen added 101-yards on five catches in the win. SC State controlled the ground attack with Donte Anthony on nine carries for 67-yards and two touchdowns along with freshman Kendrell Flowers 64-yards on 13 carries and two scores.
Junior linebacker Jablonski Green returned from injury along with Patrick Godbolt and Zafir Kelly all finished with four tackles respectively.
Freshman punter Dyson Roberts led the way on special teams with four kicks for 188-yards with an average of 47.0 yards per punt with a long of 53-yards and three (3) inside the 20-yard line.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, October 9, 2021, when they travel to Tallahassee, FL to take on the Florida A&M Rattlers. Kick-off is 6 P.M.
