DaiJohn Stewart at CIAA Quarterfinals

BALTIMORE, MD (February 24, 2023) – The Claflin Panthers (19-7) had their terrific season ended, Thursday evening when the team took a 60-52 loss to the Winston-Salem State Rams (19-8). The loss in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament.

Some costly offensive struggles proved costly for the Panthers in the loss. As a team, the Panthers totaled just 52 points with the team shooting 43.5% (19-of-48) in the loss. The team also struggled in other areas with only 27 rebounds and 16 turnovers in the game. One of the team’s bright spots was the bench play. The Panthers reserves totaled 37 points in the game. Junior guard DaiJohn Stewart led the way, scoring a career-high 17 points in the game, including hitting three three-pointers. Senior forward Shyim Cunningham added 14 points in the game as well.
