CHARLOTTE, NC (September 26, 2022) – The Claflin University Panthers just got a lot of bulletin board material, Monday morning when the 2022 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Pre-Season Predicted Order of Finish. When the order of finish was announced, the Panthers were picked to finish 11th of the 12 teams in the conference.

The prediction was not a surprise as the Panthers are coming off of a difficult 2021-22 season. The team finished the season with a 7-20 overall record and a 6-10 record in CIAA play. The Panthers finished the season ranked fourth in the CIAA Southern Division. The team ended the season with a 71-58 loss to Virginia State in the opening round of the 2021-22 CIAA Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament.

In the upcoming season, the Panthers will put the past behind them and will enter a new era during the 2022-23 season. The team will head into the season under the guidance of new head coach Brion Dunlap. The team will also return a veteran group of players to lead the way. Senior Isaiah Jennings will serve as the team’s leading offensive threat after averaging 11.0 points per game. He was also the team’s second leading rebounder, averaging four rebounds per game.

The Panthers will open practice on October 14th. The Panthers will officially tip off the 2022-23 season at home when they host the Allen (S.C.) Yellowjackets on Monday, November 14th. Season tickets for Panthers basketball are on sale HERE.
