CHARLOTTE, NC (October 10, 20201) )- It was a muddy day, but not too muddy for running as the Claflin Panthers men’s cross-country team competed in the 2021 Royals Challenge hosted by Queens (N.C.) University. Though the team ran through some rainy and muddy conditions, the Panthers were able to put on some strong performances at the meet.

Once again, the Panthers saw some great performances from their top runners, but there were also some impressive performances by their next group of runners. Junior Caleb Patterson led the way for the Panthers with a 29:26.7 in the men’s 8K run. Sophomore Chandar Anderson added a 32:30.9.  The freshman tandem of Clarence Smith turned in a 34:27.9 while Darius Holmes added a 34:33.8.

The Panthers will return to action, Friday, when the team heads to Salisbury, N.C. to take part in the Livingstone Blue Bears XC Classic.
