SALISBURY, NC (October 19, 2022) – The Claflin University men’s cross-country team took first place at the Livingstone XC Invitational, Tuesday afternoon. The team dominated the event to claim the top spot with a total of 36 points, eight points ahead of the second-place team.

“The guys did a great job today. The top four guys showed up,” said Clalfin men’s cross country head coach Garon Jackson. “They did an amazing job of pack running, but we need our fifth and sixth guys to improve in order for the team to compete at the CIAA championships next week.”

The Panthers took the top spot after some terrific individual performances. At the end of the meet, the Panthers had four runners to finish in the top seven at the event. Freshman Jakarriez Sanders led the way with a third-place finish. He completed the men’s 8K run in 29:31.4, marking a personal record for him. Senior Caleb Patterson came in fourth with a 29:34.1. Freshman Reginald Gore added a sixth-place finish with a 31:01.6. Sophomore Zion Murry came in seventh with a 31:29.5.
