Damerius Wash vs. Livingstone


ORANGEBURG, SC (January  20, 2024) – The Claflin Panthers (9-6, 6-1 CIAA) improved to 6-1 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play when the team took an 87-68 win over the Winston-Salem State Rams (12-5, 6-2 CIAA). The Panthers clicked on all cylinders and controlled the game from the very beginning to the end.

As a team, the Panthers had a tremendous effort in the game. The Panthers shot a hot 47.8% (33-of-69) from the floor, including shooting 42.9% (six-of-14) from the three-point line. Five  Panthers reached double-digit scoring in the game. Claflin junior guard Damerius Wash led the way with 16 points off the bench. Junior forward Zion Obanla added 14 points with eight rebounds. Senior guard Bryson Dennis added 12 points with five rebounds while fellow junior forward John Whitehead, III, added 12 points by going four-for-seven from the three-point line. Senior guard DaiJohn Stewart added 10 points with three steals off the bench as well.

With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-6 overall and 6-1 in CIAA play. The team also improves to 2-0 in CIAA Southern Division play. The team will return to action, Wednesday, when they head to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the Saint Augustine’s Falcons.
