Panthers' 4x400m Relay Named to USTFCCCA All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA (March 10, 2023) – When the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2023 indoor track & field all-region honorees, the Claflin track & field teams both made their marks. Sophomore Zoe Adams and four members of the Panthers. The honorees are recognized for ranking among the top five in their respective events during the 2022-23 indoor track & field season.

Lady Panthers sophomore Zoe Adams earned her spot on the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-Region team after ranking second in the NCAA Division II Atlantic region in the women’s 400m dash. She ran a season-best 56.13 to win the women’s 400m dash at the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet.

There were four Panthers who took home all-region honors. The Panthers’ 4x400m relay earned a spot on the regional team. Junior Zion Murry, freshman Jonathan Flemister, freshman Jaevon Riley, and senior Chandar Anderson all comprised the team that ranked second in the region with a 3:16.35 at the 2023 CIAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship meet. Not only did the efforts qualify the team for the USTFCCCA All-Region Team, the effort claimed the 2023 CIAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship as well.

The Lady Panthers and Panthers will return to action on Friday, march 17th when the team heads to nearby Charleston, South Carolina to take part in the CSU Buccaneer Invitational.
