Nya Morris at Saint Augustine's


ORANGEBURG, SC (January 27, 2024) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (11-7, 5-5 CIAA) won their seventh straight game when senior guard Nya Morris led the team to an 82-65 win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (9-8, 6-4 CIAA), Saturday. After keeping things close in the first half, the Lady Panthers exploded for a tremendous second half to claim the victory.

The win came behind one of the best overall games of the season for the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers shot an impressive 45.5% (29-of-64) from the floor, including a scorching hot 60% (nine-of-15) in the third quarter and 58.82% (10-of-17) in the fourth quarter. Morris led the way for the Lady Panthers with a double-double 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Junior guard Lauren Scott added 24 points with five assists and two steals.

With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 11-7 overall and 5-5 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, Wednesday, when they head to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on the Fayetteville State Broncos.
