ELIZABETH CITY, NC (December 16, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (3-5, 1-3 CIAA) got their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) win in a big way when the team took a dominating 78-51 win over the Elizabeth City State Vikings (5-4, 0-2 CIAA). The win came behind the best performance of the season by the Lady Panthers.
As a team, the Lady Panthers broke out for a dominating effort in their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) win of the season. The Lady Panthers dominated the game from the very beginning as they led the way for all 40 minutes of play. The team shot a scorching hot 51.8% (29-of-56) from the floor. As a team, the Lady Panthers put on their best performance with four Lady Panthers reaching double-digit scoring. Junior guard Nya Morris had the best game of the day with a career-high 36 points with 10 rebounds. Fellow junior guard Jasmyn Jeffries added a double-double effort of her own with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals. Redshirt-sophomore Leigha Harris added 11 points with six rebounds while junior guard Lauren Scott added 11 points of her own.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in CIAA play.
