CHARLOTTE, NC (January 18, 2022) – It didn’t take long for the honors to start coming in for Claflin University freshman sprinter Jocolbi Morgan as he was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Food Lion Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. The freshman took home the honor after the first collegiate meet in the career for the Claflin freshman.

Morgan wasted no time in making a name for himself as he put on a great showing at the Gamecock Opener, Saturday. His best performance came in the men’s long jump where he placed 6th at the meet with a 22’11.25″ (6.99m) jump. The effort was the best among NCAA Division II opponents at the meet. It was this effort that earned the honor for Morgan.

The long jump wasn’t the only impressive performance for Morgan at the meet as he placed 23rd in the men’s 60m dash with a 7.15.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers track & field teams will return to action this weekend when the teams take part in the Carolina Challenge.
