Lady Panthers volleyball at the CIAA Volleyball Round Up.

 

ELIZABETH CITY, NC (October 15, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (8-6, 3-4 CIAA) gave their all in a hard-fought three-set loss to the Bluefield State Blues (11-13, 8-2 CIAA), Sunday morning. Though the Lady Panthers struggled at times, the team was able to shot some flashes of great play in the hard-fought 20-25, 27-29, and 13-25 loss.

The loss came with some offensive struggles as errors plagued the Lady Panthers. The team totaled 26 hitting errors in the loss. Claflin junior outside hitter Taylin Johnson led the way for the team with 10 kills in the match. Senior libero Jasmine Kirkland led the team’s defensive effort with 15 digs.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will close out the CIAA Volleyball Round Up, Sunday afternoon, when they take on the Bowie State Bulldogs.
