ORANGEBURG, SC (November 6, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (9-13, 5-12 CIAA) had some bright spots, but the team came up short in a four-set loss to Winston-Salem State (14-17, 10-7 CIAA), Monday evening. Though the Lady Panthers led a strong balanced attack, the team could not stop the potent Winston-Salem State offense in the 18-25, 25-21, 20-25, and 20-25 loss.

The loss came despite some strong offensive play by the Lady Panthers. As a team, the Lady Panthers totaled 34 kills in the match with freshman Caytlyn Sanford leading the way. Junior utility Keymara Coleman added six kills with four total blocks (one solo) as well. Defensively, senior libero Jasmine Kirkland led the way for the team with 35 digs. Senior middle blocker Taneja Robinson added five total blocks (two solo).

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 9-13 overall and 5-12 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will close out the regular season on the road, Thursday when they head to Salisbury, North Carolina to take on the Livingstone Blue Bears.
