ORANGEBURG, SC (February 22, 2024) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (16-9, 10-7 CIAA) gave it their all, but the team came up short in a hard-fought 75-71 overtime loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (23-2, 16-1 CIAA), Wednesday evening. After allowing an FSU tip-in in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game, 64-64, the Lady Panthers were outscored 11-7 during the overtime period to take the tough loss.

The loss came despite a terrific overall effort by the Lady Panthers. Though the team was held to shooting just 38.0% (27-of-71) from the floor, the team was able to put up 71 points against the Broncos defense. Claflin senior guard Lauren Scott led the Lady Panthers’ attack with 24 points in the game. Claflin senior Nya Morris added a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while senior forward Destiny Coleman added a double-double of her own with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Panthers will close out the 2023-24 regular season when the team heads to Charlotte, North Carolina to take on the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls in a 2:00 p.m. game.
