CHARLOTTE, NC (April 12, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (20-9, 6-1 CIAA) took their strong play on the road when the team took a 7-0 win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (4-14, 3-8 CIAA), Wednesday. The Lady Panthers combined some solid defense with some solid offense to claim the win.
The Lady Panthers were strong at the plate throughout the entire game. As a team, Claflin totaled seven hits in the game. Freshman Kourtney White led the way with a two-for-four batting performance with a run scored and three runs batted in (RBI). Senior pitcher Jaelyn Jackson added a triple with a run scored an and RBI.
Jackson (12-5) continued to show why she remains one of the top pitchers in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). She started the game and threw all seven innings. She finished the game with no runs allowed on just two hits. She also recorded seven strikeouts in the win.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 20-9 overall and 6-1 in CIAA play. The two teams would go on to complete the doubleheader later in the day.
