Caytlyn Sanford Action

ORANGEBURG, SC (October 9, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (7-5, 3-4 CIAA) gave a strong effort, but the team could not get their offense going in a three-set loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (9-10, 6-1 CIAA), Monday evening. The Lady Panthers had some solid defense throughout the match despite falling, 22-25, 21-25, and 20-25.

The Lady Panthers had to rely on a solid defensive effort as their offense struggled against the Bronco defense. As a team, the Lady Panthers managed just 16 kills in the match. Claflin freshman outside hitter Caytlyn Sanford led the Lady Panthers attack with five kills. Senior middle blocker Taneja Robinson made a return to action with four kills. The team benefited from a strong service game with junior setter Jakeya Paylor adding a pair of service aces.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action this weekend when they take part in the CIAA Volleyball Round Up.
