Jasmyn Jeffries vs. North Greenville

ETTRICK, VA (December 18, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (3-6, 1-4 CIAA) couldn’t get the shots to fall when they needed them to in a 69-57 loss to the Virginia State Trojans (9-1, 3-1 CIAA), Monday evening. The Lady Panthers gave a terrific effort in much of the game, but a slow start turned out to be too much for the team to overcome in the tough loss.

Points were hard to come by for the Lady Panthers as the team struggled against some tough Trojan defense. The Lady Panthers were held to shooting just 25.3% (19-of-75) from the floor, including shooting just 9.1% (two-for-22) from the three-point line. Claflin senior guard Nya Morris continued her great run of play with a near triple-double. She finished the game with 14 points and nine rebounds with nine steals. Junior center Keva Wilson also had a great showing with seven rebounds and six points. Junior guard Jasmyn Jeffries added nine points with five rebounds.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will break for the holidays before returning to action on Tuesday, January 2nd when they host the Paine Lions.
