COLUMBIA, SC (April 17, 2022) – The Claflin University women’s track & field teams returned to action with some strong performances at the Gamecock Invitational Track & Field Meet, Saturday. The team had some great performances both on and off the track.

The field events saw some of the best performances of the day for the Lady Panthers. Senior Zaria Nelson continues to show why she is one of the top throwers in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) with a great effort, Saturday. She placed eighth in the women’s shot put when she had a 39’3″ (11.96m) throw. She also placed 10th in the women’s discus throw when she placed 10th with a 124’4″(37.89m) throw. Sophomore Kailyn Glover competed in the women’s javelin throw where she recorded a 59’4″ (18.08m) throw.

On the track, the Lady Panthers continued to show improvements. Freshman Zoe Adams continued to be great this season when she placed 14th in the women’s 400m dash invite. She recorded a 56.82, the second best time in the women’s 400m dash in the CIAA, only her time at the Weems Baskin Relays surpassed her time.

The team will return to action next weekend when they head to Atlanta, Georgia, to take part in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
