Lady Panthers Place Fifth at 2024 CIAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet


WINSTON-SALEM, NC -(February 12 2024) The Claflin Lady Panthers had a solid performance at the 2024 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. The team totaled 34 points to place fifth at the meet, the team finished two spots ahead of last season’s seventh place finish.

It was in field events where the Lady Panthers recorded the bulk of their points. The freshman duo of Marlayna McBride and Jhnyia Knuckles led the way. In the women’s triple jump, McBride placed third with an 11.54m jump while Knuckles placed sixth with an 11.28m jump. Knuckles returned with a third place finish in the women’s long jump where she recorded a 5.50m jump. McBride added a second place finish in the women’s high jump with a 1.58m jump as well.

On the track, Claflin freshman sprinter Jadah Rasool placed fourth in the women’s 60m dash to lead the team’s effort. She recorded a 7.78 time in the event. Junior Madison McDonald placed eighth in the women’s 3000m run with a 11:25.15. The Lady Panthers’ distance medley relay team placed fourth with a 14:06.28.
