Taylin Johnson vs. Fayetteville State

ORANGEBURG, SC (October 23, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (9-8, 5-7 CIAA) could not find the answers they needed in a four-set loss to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (6-13, 4-9 CIAA), Monday evening. The loss came despite a great offensive effort by the Lady Panthers in the 28-26, 10-25, 23-25, and 23-25 loss.

Though the Lady Panthers’ defense has been a hallmark for the team, the team fell short in the tough loss. The Lady Panthers allowed 55 kills to the Golden Bears. The Lady Panthers were able to counter with a strong offense effort. As a team, the Lady Panthers had one of their best offensive performances of the season with 46 kills. The duo of senior utility Kyndall Perry and junior outside Taylin Johnson both totaled 11 kills in the match. On the defensive front, the Lady Panthers did have some Junior middle blocker Jaide Holliday added four total blocks (none solo). Senior libero Jasmine Kirkland added 35 digs.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 9-8 overall and 5-7 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will hit the road for their next action when they head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to take on the Rams.
