Destiny/Jasmyn vs. Paine


ORANGEBURG, SC (January 2, 2024) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (4-6) put on their best performance of the season when the team took a dominating 108-40 win over the Paine Lions (0-8), Tuesday evening. The Lady Panthers clicked on all cylinders to get their largest win of the season.

The Lady Panthers dominated every aspect of the game to pull away with their biggest win of the season. As a team, the Lady Panthers scored a season-high 108 points while holding their opponents to just 40 points, the fewest points since November 19, 2022. The Lady Panthers held Paine to shooting just 25.9% (15-of-58) from the floor and forced 36 turnovers. In addition to the Lady Panthers’ defensive attack, the team put on an equally impressive offensive attack. When the game ended, four Lady Panthers reached double-digit scoring in the game with graduate guard Janelle Sample coming off the bench for her best performance of the season. She scored 22 points with five assists and two steals in the game. Senior guard Nya Morris nearly pulled off a triple-double with 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Junior guard Lauren Scott added 18 points, five assists, and four steals. Senior forward Destiny Coleman added a double-double 10 points with 11 rebounds.

With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 4-6 overall. The team will return to action, Thursday, when they return to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play against the Bluefield State Blues.
