TUSKEGEE, AL (September 12, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (2-1) got back to their winning ways when the team took a hard-fought five-set win at Tuskegee (0-2), Monday evening. After taking a 22-25 loss in the opening set, the Lady Panthers took back-to-back wins, 25-20, and 25-22 in the second and third sets before an 18-25 fourth set loss and claiming a 15-9 win in the fifth set to seal the win.
The Lady Panthers took the win behind some solid play on offense and defense. Claflin senior opposite side hitter Kyndall Perry led the way for the team with 12 kills in the match. Junior utility Keymara Coleman added 11 kills as well with two total blocks (one solo). Junior setter Jakeya Paylor coordinated the effort with 21 assists in the match. Senior libero Jasmine Kirkland led the Lady Panthers’ defensive effort with 31 digs in the match. Perry added 15 digs as well. Junior Jada Buckhanon added 12 digs while Paylor added 10 digs.
With the win, the Lady Panthers improved to 2-1 on the season. The team will open home court, Thursday, when they host the Shaw Lady Bears in a 6:00 p.m. match.
