ORANGEBURG, SC (November 15, 2023) —Newcomers Cassandra Colon and Jordan Releford tossed in 11 points each respectively, but it wasn’t enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough 61-73 decision to visiting Coastal Carolina Wednesday (Nov.15) in women’s basketball action inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Morgan Beacham tabbed in nine points and four (4) steals with 25 minutes of play, while Rakyha Reid (six (6) rebounds) and Jhaven Meade chipped in six each in the loss.
Despite a lofty 19 turnovers by both teams, South Carolina State led in several categories including Points off Turnovers (17-13), Bench Points (23-4) and Blocks 4-2.
UP NEXT: South Carolina State will remain at home when they take on the visiting Eagles of Winthrop University in a non-conference matchup beginning at 2 p.m. inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
