ORANGEBURG, SC (February 26, 2023) — Nicole Gwynn finished with a team-high 13 points, but it wasn’t enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough, 41-69, setback to Norfolk State Saturday (Feb.25th) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
South Carolina State falls to 3-24 overall, 2-10 in the MEAC, while Norfolk State improves to 22-5 overall, 10-2 in the league.
Janiah Hinton added five points and nine (9) rebounds, while Ajia Smith Chipped in seven (7) points.
The Lady Spartans was led by Makoye Diawara with 16 points Kierra Wheeler with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Next up: South Carolina State returns to action on Monday (Feb.27th) versus Howard in an MEAC doubleheader with the women beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men in an 7:30 p.m. start at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
2023 MEAC TOURNAMENT: The 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men’s and women’s basketball tournament is scheduled for March 8-11, 2023, at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. The annual MEAC Basketball Tournament moved to Norfolk in 2013 after spending the previous four years in Winston-Salem, N.C. from 2009 through 2012.
