ORANGEBURG, SC (January 29, 2022) — Freshman guard Nicole Gwynn tossed in 10 points along with six (6) rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as South Carolina State dropped its first league contest, 60-40, to top-ranked Norfolk State Saturday (Jan. 29th) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

Trinity Klock added a team-high 10 rebounds, and eight rebounds in the loss. The Lady Bulldogs fall to 3-1 in the league, 3-15 overall, while NSU improves to 8-7 overall, 4-0 in the MEAC.

Despite the loss, SCSU won the battle of the boards with an 48-39 advantage, while shooting 87.5% from the charity stripe on the day.

South Carolina State will return back to the court on Monday (Jan. 31st) in a league showdown with visiting Howard, with the women beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men in a 7:30 p.m. start.
