Jaelyn Jackson vs. Allen (S.C.)

ELIZABETH CITY, NC (March 24, 2023) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (14-8, 2-0 CIAA) clicked on all cylinders when the team took a dominating 17-0 five-inning win over the Virginia Union Panthers (2-13, 0-2 CIAA), Thursday afternoon. Claflin senior pitcher Jaelyn Jackson had an historic day when she threw a perfect game to lead the team to the win.

Jackson (8-4) started the game and threw all five innings and she finished the game with no hits, walks, or hit batters allowed and the team had no fielding errors to claim the perfect game win. For the game, Jackson finished with 10 strikeouts in 15 batters faced.

While Jackson handled all of the pitching, the rest of the Lady Panthers went to work at the plate. The team totaled 14 hits, including three doubles in the game. Sophomore outfielder Kennedy Baskerville went three-for-three at the plate with a double, two runs scored and four runs batted in (RBI) in the game while freshman Me’Auhre Lewis went three-for-three with a double, a run scored, and three RBI. The Lady Panthers also totaled four stolen bases in the game as well.

With the win, the Lady Panthers improve to 14-8 overall and 2-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will return to action, tomorrow, when they take on the Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions at 11:00 a.m. before facing the Bowie State Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m.
