ORANGEBURG, SC (September 24, 2023) —Graduate quarterback Corey Fields, Jr. threw for a season-high 301-yards connecting 19-of-25-1 and three (3) touchdowns to lead South Carolina State an impressive 31-10 victory over intrastate rival The Citadel Saturday (Sept.23rd) at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jefferies.

South Carolina State improves to 1-3 on the season, while The Citadel falls to 0-4.

Fields, Jr. also added six (6) carries for 55-yards, while freshman Kacy Fields added 44-yards on 10 carries. The receiving corps was led by Justin Brown -Smith three (3) catches for 75-yard and two (2) touchdowns.

The defense was spearheaded by Zan Dunham with six (6) tackles, while Adonis Davis with five (5) in the victory.

Next up the Bulldogs will host Virginia Lynchburg on Youth Day in a 2 p.m. showdown on Oct. 7th at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
