ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Sept. 24, 2021) – Coppin State’s volleyball team swept South Carolina State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-11) in its MEAC opener on Friday night at Dukes Gymnasium.  The Eagles now stand at 7-6 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 0-9.

After falling behind, 2-0, Coppin ran off five-straight points and pulled away with another six-straight points midway through the set to take a 15-8 lead. Following a Bulldogs kills, the Eagles scored seven consecutive points and took the opener, 25-14.

The teams traded a couple points to open the second set until CSU turned a 10-6 advantage into a 20-6 lead. South Carolina State made a small run, but it was not enough to hold off Coppin State University.

South Carolina State returns to league play on Sunday (Sept. 26th) when they host Morgan State in a 1p.m. start.
