CHARLOTTE, NC – (March 12, 2024) After some terrific play on the field, Claflin sophomore short stop Cydney Cooper earned the first conference honor of her career. On Tuesday, she was named the Food Lion Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Defensive Player of the Week. It was her play in the team’s doubleheader at Converse that earned the honor for her.
In a doubleheader at Converse, Cooper had some great defensive play for the Lady Panthers. Playing the short stop position in both games, she recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage with three putouts, six total assists, and one fielding error in the doubleheader.
The Lady Panthers will return to action next Friday, when the team heads to Elizabeth City, North Carolina to take part in the CIAA Softball Round Up.
