CHARLOTTE, NC (March 10, 2023) – When the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced its first weekly honors, Claflin University stood front and center with three of the four honors going to Lady Panthers. Claflin freshman infielder Kourtney White was named the CIAA Rookie and Offensive Player of the Week while senior pitcher Jaelyn Jackson was named the CIAA Pitcher of the Week.
Jackson took the pitching honor after a great week for the Lady Panthers. She pitched 10 total innings for the Lady Panthers over last week. She recorded four strikeouts with just one earned run allowed in a 4-2 win over the Converse Valkyries. She also added three strikeouts in relief in the second game of the doubleheader.
White earned a pair of honors after being named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week and the CIAA Rookie of the Week. She went a total of three-for-seven in a pair of games against the Converse Valkyries. She went one-for-three in game one and she added a pair of hits in game two, including a double. In the two games in the prior week, she went four-for-six with four runs batted in (RBI), two stolen bases, and a run scored in a pair of wins.
