Claflin's Jackson Selected for 2023 MSP HBCU All-Star Game
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – After completing a successful 2023 season for the Claflin Lady Panthers, the honors just keep coming in for Claflin senior pitcher Jaelyn Jackson. Another big one just came in for her when she was selected to compete in the inaugural Minority Softball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game on Friday, June 2nd at the Grizzly Softball Complex on the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Jackson, Jaelyn HS 2022-23The all-star game will be the first of its kind and it will feature some of the best softball players at historically black college & universities in the nation. Players from NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II will take the diamond to showcase their skills. The action won’t all be on the field as the event will also feature vendors, a pre-game home run derby, and a race to determine who is the fastest softball player in HBCUs.

The selection to the team was another one of several honors for Jackson after a stellar 2023 season. In addition to being named to the all-star team, Jackson was named the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Pitcher of the Year in addition to earning first team All-CIAA honors. She finished the 2023 season leading the conference in earned run average (ERA) with a 1.48 average, strikeouts (171), and just two home runs allowed. She accomplished all those feats will finishing the season ranked second with 142.0 innings pitched. She also earned a spot on the 2023 CIAA Softball All-Tournament Team as well.

The 2023 Minority Softball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game is set for a 7:15 p.m. start at the Grizzly Softball Complex on the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Tickets for the game are $15 each. The game will be livestreamed HERE.
