Claflin Cross Country Teams Make Another Great Showing at Upstate Invitational

 

SPARTANBURG, SC (October 14,2023) – The Claflin University men’s and women’s cross-country teams looked sharp at the Upstate Invitational, Saturday morning. Competing against some of the top runners and teams on the east coast, the Claflin Lady Panthers and Panthers had some impressive performances at the meet.

The Lady Panthers had a mix of experience and youth leading the way at the meet. For the third straight meet, Claflin junior Madison McDonald led the way for the team. She ran a 21:15.7 at the meet. Newcomer Layla Spencer ran a 26:04.1 while senior Jonnica Fuller ran a 27:34.1.

The Panthers’ experienced leadership led the way for the team in the men’s 8K run. Claflin sophomore Jakarriez Sanders once again led the way when he ran a 29:53.1. Sophomore Reginald Gore added a 31:33.9. Freshman Kristopher Robinson added a 32:01.5.

The Claflin University men’s and women’s cross country teams will next hit the trails when they aim for the top at the 2023 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Country Championship Meet.
