DOVER, DE (January 28, 2024) – Senior guard Wilson Dubinsky nailed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer as time expired to life South Carolina State to an, 66-64, victory in Mid-Easten Athletic Conference (MEAC) play Saturday (Jan.27) inside Memorial Hall.

Dubinsky finished with a team-high 17 points while sophomore guard Jordan Simpson added eight (8) points and four (4) rebounds in the win.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-14 overall, 2-2 in the MEAC, while the Hornets fell to 10-10, 3-1 in the league.

South Carolina State led 36-35 during intermission.

Back-to-back three pointers by Dubinsky and Simpson late midway through the second half gave the Bulldogs an nine point lead, 54-45, at the 9:45 mark. A late rally by the Hornets off a pair of layups from Jevin Muniz push Delaware State ahead 64-63 with 0:08 seconds remaining in regulation.

Dubinsky’s 3-pointer as time expired secured the victory on the road for SCSU.

The Bulldogs dominated in several categories including points int the paint (30-28), second chance points (11-8), and bench points (35-29.).

The Hornets (10-10, 3-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Deywilk Tavarez, who had 19 points. Jevin Muniz added 16 points and Martaz Robinson helped out with 11 points and six rebounds.

UP NEXT: South Carolina State remains on the road and will conclude the weekend series in Salisbury, MD versus Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday, January 29th. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
