ORANGEBURG, SC (October 15, 2022) —Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Rakim White had a career-day catching four (4) catches for 110-yards and two (2) touchdowns to lead South Carolina State to an 36-0 shutout victory over visiting Virginia Lynchburg Saturday (Oct.15th) inside Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium|Willie Jeffries Field.
Graduate quarterback Corey Fields, Jr. finished throwing 17-of-36 for 263-yards and three touchdowns, while redshirt senior Shaquan Davis had a solid day with seven (7) catches for 76-yards and one touchdown.
The defense played lights out holding the Dragons to four first downs and 22-yards total offense. Redshirt junior Kendrell Flowers led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 72-yards in the win.
Sophomore linebacker Aaron Smith finished with a team-high six (6) tackles, 1 sack and 1.5 tackles, while Preseason MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Jeblonski Green, Jr., made his presence known with four (4) tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and on sack.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State play host to top-ranked NC Central on Saturday (Oct. 22nd) at home Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field. Kick off is set for 1:30 p.m.
