DOVER, DE (February 21, 2023) — Three Bulldogs scored double figures, but it wasn’t enough as South Carolina State came up short in a nailbiter to Delaware State, 69-68, Monday (Feb. 20th) at Memorial Hall.

Raquan Brown and Cameron Jones each finished with a team-high 14 points, while Lesown Hallums, Jr. added 13 in the loss.

South Carolina State falls to 5-22 overall, 2-9 in the MEAC, while Delaware State improves to 6-20 overall, 4-8 in the league.

The Hornets were led by Martaz Robinson with a game-high 28 points and six rebounds, while teammates O’Koye Parker added 14 and the games only double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Next up: South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (Feb.25th) in an MEAC doubleheader with the women beginning at 2 p.m., followed by the men in an 4 p.m. start at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

2023 MEAC TOURNAMENT: The 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men’s and women’s basketball tournament is scheduled for March 8-11, 2023, at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. The annual MEAC Basketball Tournament moved to Norfolk in 2013 after spending the previous four years in Winston-Salem, N.C. from 2009 through 2012.
