STILLWATER, OKLA.(December 31, 2023)—Sophomore guard Jordan Simpson tossed in team-high 16 points and four (4) steals, but it wasn’t enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough 70-86 non-conference defeat to host Oklahoma State Sunday (Dec.31) inside Gallagher -Iba Arena.

The Bulldogs fall to 4-12 overall, while the Cowboys improve to 7-5 on the season.

Despite the loss, SC State defense forced Oklahoma State to a game-high 23 turnovers, while leading in several categories including Points off Turnovers (20-13), Second Chance Points (25-18), and Bench Points (28-19).

Drayton Jones added 12 points and seven (7) rebounds, while Mitchell Taylor chipped in nine (9) points and five (5) rebounds in the loss.

Oklahoma State was led by Bryce Thompson with 17 points, while Quion Williams recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

NEXT UP: South Carolina State returns to action after the new year at home in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play versus Norfolk State Saturday (Jan. 6) in a 4 p.mm tipoff and Monday (Jan. 8) versus Howard inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
