ORANGEBURG, SC (March 21, 2022) –In celebration of “South Carolina State University Day,” members of the General Assembly, including Rep. Russell Ott, D-Calhoun, will host representatives from SC State on Wednesday, March 23. The university’s HBCU National Championship-winning football team will also be in attendance.
“I’m excited to welcome South Carolina State to the State House,” Ott said. “As one of our state’s most prominent HBCU’s, S.C. State is a huge benefactor for all of South Carolina. I’m especially honored to host their HBCU National Championship-winning football team and Coach Buddy Pough, who have made our state proud at the national level.”
While the House is not in session this week, the team will be recognized in the Senate. Prior to this, they will join the Orangeburg delegation for lunch in the Blatt Building from noon to 1:30 p.m.
March 23 is “South Carolina State University Day” per a House resolution from March 9.
