Lauren Scott vs. Livingstone

ORANGEBURG, SC (January 17, 2024) – The Claflin Lady Panthers (8-7, 2-5 CIAA) got their third straight win when the team overcame a slow start to claim a 75-64 win over the Livingstone Blue Bears (3-7, 1-6 CIAA), Wednesday evening. After taking a halftime tie, the Lady Panthers stormed back for a big second half to claim their fourth straight win.

The Lady Panthers took the win behind a balanced attack. Four Claflin players reached double-digit scoring in the game, including a double-double effort from senior forward Destiny Coleman who totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds with four blocks. Junior guard Lauren Scott added 14 points with seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Redshirt-sophomore forward Leigha Harris added 14 points with three rebounds and a block. Senior Nya Morris added 13 points with six assists.

It was a tough outing early for the Lady Panthers. In the first quarter, the team fell behind by as many as nine points, 5-14 with 5:55 left in the period. From there, the Lady Panthers were able to tie the game, 36-36 at the half. From there, the Lady Panthers broke out with a 26-15 third quarter to head into the final quarter with a 62-51 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Panthers cooled off, but not without claiming the 75-64 win.
