ORANGEBURG, SC (January 24, 2024) — The South Carolina State women’s softball team announced its schedule for the 2024 season, Wednesday (Jan. 17). The schedule features 46 games and 20 non-conference games, including three tournaments.

SC State opens the season with back-to-back tournaments, beginning with the Spartan Classic in Spartanburg, SC with games against Loyola University (Chicago) and Towson University Feb.10, followed by host USC Upstate and Towson Feb. 11.

The second tournament the Lady Bulldogs will participate in is the 2024 HBCU Tournament in Covington, GA. Coach Tatjana Matthews’ team meets Jackson State and Alabama State Feb.16 and faces Alabama State and Prairie View A&M Feb.17, before rounding out the event with Grambling State Feb. 18.

SC State closes out early-season tournament play at the College of Charleston Cougar Classic Feb. 23-25 at Charleston. The Lady Bulldogs open play against Princeton University Feb. 23, followed by contests against Oakland University, and host College of Charleston Feb. 24, before closing out the competition against Princeton and CofC Feb. 25.

The Lady Bulldogs host Saint Peter’s University in a non-conference matchup Mar. 8-10 in their home opener Lady Bulldog Field, before opening Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play at home against Norfolk State Mar. 16-17.

Coach Matthews and her team return to the road in the nation’s capital at Washington, DC with a showdown against Howard Mar. 23-24 in a league series, before returning home to host Morgan State Mar. 29-30.

SC State, next, hits the road for a 11-game stretch, starting with Presbyterian Apr. 3 in a non-conference doubleheader in Clinton, SC, before returning to league play at Coppin State Apr.6-7 in Baltimore, MD, and Delaware State Apr.13-14 in Dover, DE.

After a doubleheader with Wofford on Apr.17 in Spartanburg, the Lady Bulldogs return home for a conference series with University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Apr. 20-21 in Orangeburg and a non-conference road contest at USC-Upstate Apr.24.

The Lady Bulldogs close out its MEAC and regular season schedule against North Carolina Central Apr.27-28 in Durham, NC, before competing in the MEAC Softball Championship May 7-11 in Norfolk, VA.
